I can't find where to generate the plugin api key

In the **dashboard** (dash.staffhq.net), go to **Settings** and look for the API keys section. You'll see an option to generate a **Plugin-type API key** there — make sure it's "Plugin" type, not "Dashboard" type. Copy that key and paste it into your `plugins/StaffHQ/config.yml` on your server.
If you can't locate the API section in Settings, check that you've already activated your license at dash.staffhq.net/license/success first. If you're still stuck, open a ticket at staffhq.net/support.
